Work Text:

"Should we chide or deride children who hide
because they're afraid to ride the roller-coaster
and the ferris wheel?" Melrose asked.

"Personally," the old man said, "I'd tan their hides!"

But a wise woman spoke up and said, "Shaming
people for their fears will not make them brave."
